MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Junior Steve Schreiber (Forest Lake, Minn.) tied for first place in the high jump at this weekend’s Cobber Invitational in Moorhead, Minn., and was rewarded with Co-Field Athlete of the Week honors by the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). He is the first from Bemidji State to be named conference Athlete of the Week this season. “(Schreiber) is an elite athlete and he deserves this recognition,” head coach Craig Hougen said.

Schreiber managed to clear 6-4 this weekend, but his previous weekend’s jump of 6-8 1/4 ranks him first in the NSIC and 17th nationally. He is one of only two male athletes in the conference that have provisionally qualified in field events.

The Bemidji State indoor track and field squad will next participate in the Bison Classic this Thursday in Fargo, N.D.
