BEMIDJI, Minn. - Although the Indoor Track and Field season ended nearly three weeks ago the recognition continues to pour in for Junior Adam Wilson (Forest Lake, Minn.). For his efforts throughout the season Wilson was nominated for the North Central Region track and field Male Athlete of the Year.

Wilson was one of just three male athletes nominated along with the University of South Dakota’s Derek Gearman and Adam State College’s Celedonio Rodriquez.

During the 2005 Indoor Track and Field season, Wilson set new school records in the shot put (51-4) and the weight throw (54-0) on his way to winning both events in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference meet.

Wilson was also named the NSIC’s Field Athlete of the Week twice. On January 24, Wilson was given his first honors after breaking a Bemidji State record in the weight throw with his toss of 53-8. Wilson finished second in the event while also grabbing fifth in the shot put (46-71⁄2) at the Super 8 Open.

Wilson’s next NSIC honor came on February 21, after he bested his own school record in the weight throw with his toss of 54 feet finishing first in the Beaver Classic.

At the conclusion of the NSIC Indoor Championships, Wilson was once again honored by the conference as the Men’s Field Athlete of the Year.

Wilson will look to carry his indoor success outside as BSU opens its outdoor season on April 2, as the team travels to Fargo, N.D., to compete in the North Dakota State Open.
