The three-time All-American posted a pair of Super 8 Open titles gaining wins in the shot put and weight throw. He stretched the tape to 55-10.50 in the shot and posted a 35-pound weight throw mark of 59-00.25. Both marks were his best of the young seasons and provisionally qualified him for the NCAA Division II 2008 Indoor Track and Field Championships in Mankato, Minn. Mar. 14-16.
Also earning NSIC Athlete of the Week honors were: Mary's (N.D.)Destinee Keller (Women's Field), Wayne State’s Kylie Herian (Women's Track) and Kawaskii Bacon of Concordia-St. Paul (Men's Track).
Remitz and the rest of the
Bemidji State track and field teams will be in action again next
weekend (Jan. 25-26). A handful of participants will head to Moorhead,
Minn. to participate in the Concordia Multi Friday while the complete
team will be in competition on the eastern boarder of the state
Saturday at the University of Wisconsin-Superior Invitational.
