JAMESTOWN, N.D. -- Kristi Buerkle (So., Stacy, Minn.) led the Bemidji State University women's outdoor track and field team Saturday at the 55th Annual Al Cassell Relays, hosted by Jamestown College in Jamestown, N.D.

The sophomore sprnter won the 400-meter dash and placed second in the 200-meters posting season-best times in both events. Her 400-meter time of 56.26 is the fastest during the 2009 NSIC outdoor campaign and places her 12th in the country, while her 25.49 in the 200 shaved nearly .25 seconds off her previous season best and stands as the league's fourth-best time of 2009.

On the field, Missy Kelsey (Jr., Bemidji, Minn.) stretched the tape to 143-07 to place third in the hammer throw.

Brock Beidleman (Jr., Anoka, Minn.) was just five inches shy of claiming a men's javelin throw victory with 175-01. His second-place throw was his best of the season and places him third in the NSIC this spring. In addition, he also placed fifth in the high jump clearing a height of 5-08.

Joining Beidleman on the high jump podium were Amos Bessler (Fr., Lake George, Minn.) and Paul Wagner (Fr., Fisher, Minn.). Bessler paced the trio claiming third place with a leap of 6-00. Wagner also posted a mark of 6-00 to finish fourth.

The Beavers will continue competition in the 2009 outdoor season when they travel to St. Peter, Minn. May 1 to compete in in the Gustie Open.
