Dietz Whacks Solo Homerun Against South Dakota
MANKATO, Minn. -- The Bemidji State softball team wrapped up tournament play this afternoon with a 0-10 setback to South Dakota State and a 1-13 loss to South Dakota at the Minnesota State, Mankato/American Legion Classic. Junior Jenny Dietz knocked her first season homerun versus South Dakota.

South Dakota State used five runs in the first three innings off starter Leah Bowen to roll to the non-conference win. The Jackrabbits then notched one more run in the fifth and four in the sixth to finish off the Beavers in six innings.

BSU’s Bowen got hit with the loss, going all six innings, giving up eight earned runs on 18 hits. BSU had just two base hits.

Despite Dietz’s solo shot against South Dakota, the Beavers were unable to generate any more runs, posting just four hits overall. Meanwhile, USD tallied 13 runs on 19 hits improving to 7-2 in the series against BSU.

Junior Katie McKenzie hurled 4.1 innings and was issued the loss.

BSU, which closes out the 2004 season with an appearance at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament April 30-May 1, set the mark for the most single season losses. With a 1-27 record, BSU dropped past the 1992, 1998 and 2000 clubs that had 25 losses.
