BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University softball team finished its fall schedule with a 5-1 record, including a 3-1 record at the Minnesota Duluth Tournament in September. The BSU offense was led by UMD transfer Mara Johnson (Bemidji, Minn.), who clubbed four home runs and notched eight RBI in six games.

At the UMD tournament, BSU split two games with the Bulldogs and beat the University of North Dakota twice. Two weeks later BSU defeated the University of Minnesota-Crookston for its fifth victory of the fall session.

Along with Johnson’s .375 batting average, Jamie Docken (.316, 3 2Bs, 5 RBI), Bridget Smith (.350, 2B, 4 RBI), and Amy Klaers (.467, 2B, 2 RBI) all contributed to BSU’s solid offense which averaged seven runs per game.

On the defensive side of the ball, Bemidji State had a trio of pitchers that each stifled opposing offenses. Lindsey Imhof (2-0, 1.38 ERA) led the way while Alison Willard (2-1, 3.75 ERA) and newcomer Kristen Paine (1-0, 2.50 ERA) each gave solid efforts on the mound.

Bemidji State start its regular spring season on Mar. 18-19 at the Emporia State Tournament in Emporia Kan.
