Beavers earn split versus Mayville State and Mount Saint Vincent

COCOA BEACH, Fla. (Cocoa Expo Center) -- Junior pitcher Lindsey Imhof (Jr., Big Fork, Minn.) used the strenghth of her arm to help the Bemidji State University softball teamearn its fifth win of 2006 Thursday in Cocoa Beach, Fla. Imhof took the mound for the Beavers and piled up nine strikeouts in seven innings of work en route to a no hit, 1-0 victory over Mount Saint Vincent. The one-run win came on the heels of a 2-0 loss to Mayville State earlier in the day.

Alaina Ryberg (Sr., Hudson, Wis.) was the offensive hero for BSU knocking in the only run of the game on her lone hit of the evening. Bridget Smith (Fr., Burnsville, Minn.) was 1-for-3 with a run scored in the game while Kasey Callison (Fr., Eagle River, Alaska) was 1-for-2 at the plate with a double.

Imhof improved to a perfect 3-0 on the season with the win.

The third time was a charm for Mayville State who took the field versus the Beavers for the third time in three days. The comets held BSU's bats in check, earning a 2-0 win early Thursday.

Jamie Docken (So., Owatonna, Minn.) paced the BSU offensive attack going 2-for-3 while Amy Klaers (Fr., Elk River, Minn.) was 1-for-2 recording the first triple of her career.

Amy Potter (Fr., Bovey, Minn.) was Bemidji State's pitcher of decision working six innings, allowing four hits and one earned run while collecting five strikeouts. She falls to 1-2 on the season.

The 5-3 Beavers wrap up their spring break competition tomorrow (Mar. 17) with a twinbill versus Mount Saint Vincent. The first game is slated for a 1:00 pm. start with the nightcap to follow. Both contests will take place at the Cocoa Expo Center in Cocoa Beach, Fla.
