MSU Moorhead edges Beavers
BEMIDJI, Minn. - The Bemidji State University softball team dropped Wednesday’s Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader to Minnesota State University Moorhead by scores of 6-0 and 3-1.

BSU had five hits in the first game, but failed to score a run being shutout for the 13th time this season. Crystal Bowen (Fr., IF, Duluth Minn.) batted 2-3 (.667) in the game, hitting one double in the fourth inning. The pitching duo of Kelsey Saralampi (Fr., LHP, Esko, Minn.) and Chelsea Cardinal (Fr., RHP, Brooklyn Park, Minn.) had five strikeouts. Cardinal pitched 1.1 innings to close the game without giving up a hit.

In the nightcap, the Beavers were led with a strong pitching effort by right-hander Courtney Anderson (So., Virginia, Minn.). Anderson threw 10 strikeouts, including five in the first two innings.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, with the score 1-0 MSUM, Stephanie Rossman (Fr., C, Menomonee Falls, Wis.) hit a lead-off double to get on base. Two batters later, Jamie Lund (Jr., P/UT, Grantsburg, Wis.) hit her own double to center field, batting in her fellow Wisconsinite to tie the game a one-a-piece. The game would stay 1-1 over the next two innings making it a tie ball game heading into the seventh inning.

The final inning did not fair-well for the Beavers as the Dragons scored two runs, to take a 3-1 lead in the final stretch. Bemidji State was unable to respond in the bottom of the seventh going three up, three down.

Bemidji State will close out its home season this weekend when the Beavers host the Bulldogs of Minnesota Duluth for doubleheaders on both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s doubleheader will begin at 2 p.m. at the BSU Softball Field.
