Lindenwood delivers first sweep against Bemidji State
ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Bemidji State University softball team suffered its first sweep of the season losing both games of a doubleheader to Lindenwood University on Wednesday afternoon by scores of 8-1 and 9-2.

The first game saw the Beavers score their lone run in the top of the sixth inning. Leading of the sixth, Kayla Babinski (So., IF, Devils Lake, Minn.) doubled to get into scoring position. Megan Beard (Jr., IF, Eveleth, Minn.) would record the RBI as her singled drove home Babinski. However, the Beavers would fail to score any other batters and drop contest as the Lions managed to put up eight runs off of 12 hits. Beard went 2-2 (1.00) at bat in the game, as the Beavers were only able to muster five hits in the seven innings. Kelsey Saralampi (So., LHP, Esko, Minn.) was in the circle for Bemidji State recording one strikeout.

In the second half of the doubleheader the Beavers still couldn’t outwork the Lions, losing their fourth game of the season. Lindenwood jumped out to an early lead, scoring four runs in the first inning. Bemidji State’s two runs both came in the third inning. Chelsea Cardinal (So., UT, Brooklyn Park, Minn.) and Courtney Loegering (Jr., OF, Blaine, Minn.) picked up the RBIs for the Beavers as they batted in Beard and Babinski. Cardinal went 2-3 (.667) at the plate in the contest, while Babinski went 2-4 (.500). Courtney Anderson (Jr., RHP, Virginia, Minn.) pitched the game for the Beavers recording four strikeouts.

The Beavers now drop to 4-4 on the season and have one doubleheader left during their spring break trip. Returning to the diamond on Friday, Bemidji State will play another doubleheader, this time against St. Charles Community College in St. Charles, Mo. starting at noon.
