ST. CLOUD, Minn. - In a duel of pitchers, the Bemidji State University softball team lost a 2-0 contest to Jamestown College in the opening day of the Husky Dome Tournament in St. Cloud, Minn. on Saturday.
The only scoring of the game came in the top of the first inning when Jamestown got their first two batters on base before eventually scoring them.
Both teams had a total of nine hits in the game and the Beavers were led at the plate by Danika Stelton (So., OF, International Falls, Minn.) who went 2-3 (.666) with one double on the day.
Junior right-hander Courtney Anderson (Virginia, Minn.) pitched for the Beavers and struck out 10 of 28 batters faced in the contest. Anderson only conceded two earned runs off of nine hits in the game. However, it was Jamestown pitcher Emily Snow that would record the win after striking out 11 batters and givin up no runs on nine hits.
The Beavers will return to action tomorrow in the Husky Dome Tournament when they face three Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opponents. Up first will be the University of Mary at 10 a.m., followed up by St. Cloud State at 4 p.m. before finally capping the tournament with Concordia-St. Paul at 6 p.m.
