Marauders cruise past Beavers in doubleheader
BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University softball team lost both games of a doubleheader Wednesday afternoon against the University of Mary by scores of 14-2 and 6-0.

The first game saw the Beavers get two runs on four hits while committing three errors. Danika Stelton (So., OF, International Falls, Minn.) led the way with going 2-3 (.667) with both RBI in the game. Stelton would score both Ashly Erickson (Jr., UT, Little Falls, Minn.) and Courtney Loegering (Jr., OF, Blaine, Minn.) off a single to center field. The two runs would be the only for the Beavers of the contest as U-Mary would go on to score 14 runs on 14 hits.

The second game saw Bemidji State get four more hits, however, the Beavers would fail to score any runs in the seven innings. This time Megan Beard (Jr., IF, Eveleth, Minn.) went 2-3 (.667) at the plate, while Megan Bergeson (Fr., UT, New London-Spicer, Minn.) and Loegering collected the other two hits for the Beavers. Courtney Anderson (Jr., RHP, Virginia, Minn.) pitched the game for BSU and only conceded seven hits and recorded eight strikeouts, improving her season total to 118.

Bemidji State now falls to 5-25 on the season and 4-18 in conference play. Weekend doubleheaders against Winona State University and Upper Iowa University on Saturday and Sunday, are now scheduled to be played on Friday and Saturday, respectively. The Friday doubleheader against Winona State will begin at 2 p.m. at the BSU Softball Field.
