BEMIDJI, Minn.- The Bemidji State University softball team fell in a doubleheader to the University of Mary Tuesday in Bismarck, N.D. The Marauders won 7-0 in game one and took a 8-0 victory in five innings in the second game. Bemidji State falls to 10-31 (3-19 NSIC). U-Mary improved to 21-16 (12-10 NSIC).

Kelsey Saralampi (Jr., LHP, Esko, Minn.) got the start in the circle in game one for Bemidji State. Saralampi would suffer the loss in the contest after giving up six runs, three of them earned after giving up only four hits in the game.

U-Mary got on the board early as they scored three in the bottom of the first. Jessica Alvarado was the first runner to cross the plate for the Marauders as she scored on a Saralampi wild pitch. U-Mary went ahead 2-0 as Kristin Ormsby hit a two-out double to score Melissa Gonzalez. The third run in the inning crossed home as another Saralampi wild pitch plated Ormsby.

The score would remain 3-0 until the bottom of the sixth when the Marauders added four more runs. With two outs, Ormsby tripled down the right field line. She scored as Sami Antolin reached on an error by BSU short stop Megan Beard (IF, Eveleth, Minn.).  After a single by Tricia Clarke, Saralampi was pulled in favor of Allison Roberts (Fr., RHP, Crystal, Minn.). A Brittany Hadley single plating Clarke and Antolin to put the Marauders up 6-0. A Brooke Hageness single scored pinch-runner Alexandra Medina to make it 7-0, the score U-Mary would ultimately win by.

Erin Keen got the win for the Marauders after throwing a two-hitter. The only two hits for the Beavers came from Kayla Babinski (Jr., IF, Devils Lake, N.D.)

Courtney Anderson (Sr., RHP, Virginia, Minn.) got the start in the circle in game two for Bemidji State. Anderson ended up suffering the loss after giving up five earned runs on 10 hits in three innings.

U-Mary opened up its scoring with two runs in the bottom of the first. With two outs, the Marauders’ Gonzalez doubled down the left field line. A double by Brown plated Gonzalez to make it 1-0. Ormsby made it three doubles in a row to score Brown and make it 2-0.

U-Mary would make it 8-0 in the bottom of the second after plating five runs. Hadley hit a solo-shot to lead off the inning and put the Marauders up 4-0. After the home run, BSU head coach Rick Supinski pulled Anderson in favor of Roberts. Roberts would give up four more runs for the Beavers in the inning and the Beavers were unable to answer U-Mary in the inning meaning the game was called due to the eight-run mercy rule in the fifth inning.
