Beavers close the season with pair against Valley City State

BEMIDJI, Minn.-- The Bemidji State University softball team will travel to Valley City State University to wrap up the 2012 campaign with a pair of nonconference games. The contests will commence at 3 and 5 p.m. in Valley City, N.D. BSU comes into the games with a 10-35 (3-23 NSIC) record. Valley City State is 21-18 on the season. The two teams split earlier this season as they met in Bemidji, Minn. March 27 with the Beavers winning game one 2-0 and the Vikings taking game two 6-2.

Bemidji State has been led on the season by Courtney Anderson (Sr., RHP, Virginia, Minn.), who is 7-14 with a 2.52 earned runs average. In addition, BSU has Kelsey Saralampi (Jr., LHP, Esko, Minn.) who has a 5.35 ERA in 90.1 innings pitched this season and Allison Roberts (Fr., RHP, Crystal, Minn.), who is 2-8 with a 6.77 ERA in 49.2 innings pitched.

At the plate, BSU will look to senior Megan Beard (IF, Eveleth, Minn.), who is hitting .265 with eight runs scored and 11 RBI. In addition, they have Hannah Benzie (Jr., OF, Grand Rapids, Minn.), who is batting .246 with six runs scored and seven RBI in her first season with the team.

Scouting Valley City State

Jane Pettit leads the Vikings at the plate with a .436 average including 24 runs scored and 26 RBI. They also have Adrianna Boychuk, who is batting .375 with 23 runs scored and 13 RBI.

In the circle, Katie McBride leads the way with a 13-12 mark and a 1.66 ERA in 168.2 innings pitched. They also use Jennifer Shadlock, who is 8-6 with a 2.99 ERA in 75.0 innings pitched.
