Bemidji State inks Brooke Phillips to join the squad in 2016

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- The Bemidji State University softball program announced Brooke Phillips (SS/OF, Iola, Wis.) has inked a National Letter of Intent to play for the Beavers next spring. Phillips joins Rochelle Koshalek (P, Mosinee, Wis.), Makayla Pagel (UTL/C, Kronenwetter, Wis.), Megan Castor (IF, Dillworth, Minn.), Kelsey McAlister (P/UTL, Lino Lakes, Minn.) and Jessica Burlingame (OF, Andover, Minn.) in the 2015 recruiting class.

All signees are contingent upon admission to BSU and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.

At Iola Scaninavia HS: A three-time All-Central Wisconsin Conference First-Team selection…Named Third-Team All-State in 2012 and received honorable mention honors in 2013… Hit .528 as a freshman…Lead her team to the ASA Class B Championship game in 2013…A two-time First-Team All-District selection…Two-time recipient of the team’s golden glove award…Also a threat on the hardwood, as she was a two-time second team all-conference selection.

Head Coach Rick Supinski on Phillips: “Brooke is a good athlete with very quick hands,” said Supinski. “Brooke will help us with our team speed both on the base paths and defensively.”

Personal: Daughter of Mike and Cindi Phillips born Oct. 19, 1996… Plans to study biology at BSU.

The 2015 edition of the Bemidji State softball team is in its final week of the regular season with a 17-25 overall record and a 8-12 mark in conference play. The Beavers will wrap up the 2015 campaign with doubleheaders Saturday, Sunday and Monday against Minnesota State University Moorhead, Northern State University and Concordia University, Moorhead, respectively.
