Lyndsey Peterson named to All-NSIC Second Team

BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Bemidji State University softball player Lyndsey Peterson has been named to the All-NSIC Second Team which was announced Wednesday by league officials. Peterson becomes the first BSU player to earn all-conference honors since 2009 when Mara Johnson was named to the All-NSIC Second Team as well.

“We are very proud of Lyndsey,” said Head Coach Rick Supinski. “She was an integral part of our success this season and this award is another accomplishment we can point to that we are on the right track as we continue to build the program.”

Peterson led the Beavers in several offensive categories this season including: batting average (.362), home runs (9), on-base percentage (.435), runs (27), RBI (30), doubles (16) and walks (17). The nine home runs and 16 doubles set new single-season program records. The Cottonwood, Minn. native, hit safely in 36 of 48 games and had 16 multi-hit games.

With her exploits with the bat this season, Peterson entered the record book in several career categories. Peterson is already the all-time leader in home runs (16) and doubles (35), while ranking in the top 10 in RBI (3rd, 66) and runs scored (T-7th, 52).

Peterson helped lead the Beavers to their most wins in a season since 1998 (25) with a record of 18-30 and 8-22 mark in conference play. Peterson is set to return along with 16 players from this season’s squad for 2016. The Beavers have also signed six players to National Letters of Intent and are set to join the squad next season.
