ST. CLOUD, Minn. (Husky Dome) – The Bemidji State University softball team went 2-0 on the first day of the St. Cloud Dome Games in St. Cloud, Minn., Saturday. The Beavers (4-1, 0-0 NSIC) began the day by defeating Concordia-St. Paul 3-1, and then followed by defeating the University of Minnesota, Crookston 12-1.

The Beavers began the day by defeating the Golden Bears in a tight contest, 3-1. The Beavers were led by Alayna Krejci who went 3-for-3 in the game with an RBI and Lyndsey Peterson who went 1-for-3 with her first homerun of the season. Junior Jessica Yost went all seven innings for the third time this season and struck out 12 to improve her record to 3-0.

Bemidji State then followed by scoring the most runs in a game since March 17, 2013 when they scored 22 against Gallaudet (D.C.). The Beavers tallied 12 runs on 15 hits, including nine runs in the first inning to hand the Golden Eagles their fifth loss of the season.
Four Beavers recorded two RBI in the game in Alexandra Ripka, Lyndsey Peterson, Alayna Krejci and Kelsey McAllister. McAllister led the Beavers by going 3-for-3 at the plate with a homerun and a double. Senior Jenna Massingill earned the win, her first of the season, by going three innings, striking out five and allowing only one earned run. Freshman Rochell Koshalek came in relief in the fourth inning to pitch two innings with only one hit surrendered.
The Beavers will continue play in the St. Cloud Dome Games tomorrow when they face the Golden Bears again at 7 a.m. and then fellow NSIC opponent, Minot State University at 11 a.m.
