Beavers host Huskies then travel to face Golden Bears and Mavericks

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University softball team continues Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play this week by hosting St. Cloud State University and then travels to Concordia University-St. Paul and Minnesota State University, Mankato.

The Beavers (17-10, 7-5 NSIC) host the Huskies (23-15, 7-5 NSIC) Wednesday, April 12 for a doubleheader before travelling to face the Golden Bears (11-22, 3-9 NSIC) Friday, April 14 and the Mavericks (32-6, 10-2 NSIC) Saturday, April 15.

Scouting St. Cloud State

The Huskies enter the week tied for sixth in the NSIC standings with the Beavers. SCSU is 7-5 in conference play and are 23-15 overall. On the road however, St. Cloud State is just 1-4 this season.

Alyssa Coletto leads the Huskies with a .380 batting average and has totaled 11 doubles and 23 RBI this season. Jessica Goerger leads the team in RBI’s with 31 on the season and sports a .327 batting average. Morgan Emmans follows with 27 RBI and is batting .340 at the plate. As a team, the Huskies are batting .312.

Megan Hedstrom has seen the most time in the circle for SCSU and in 115 innings, she has compiled a 11-7 record with two shutouts and four saves. She has posted a 2.92 ERA and has 70 strikeouts with 54 walks.

Scouting Concordia St. Paul

The Golden Bears begin the week tied for 12th in the league standings with a 3-9 conference record. CSP is 11-22 overall and are just 2-2 at home this season.

Nicole Thompson leads the Golden Bears with a .418 batting average while Liz Jarosz leads the team with 24 RBI. Jarosz has totaled nine home runs this season and is batting .302.

Samantha Sullivan leads the Golden Bears’ pitching staff with 104.1 innings pitched and has compiled a 5-10 record with two saves. She has posted a 4.23 ERA and has 59 strikeouts. Linzy Heim has also came in to pitch 87 innings this season and is 6-10 with a 4.99 ERA.

Scouting Minnesota State

The Mavericks enter the week second in the NSIC standings and ranked XX in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association poll. Minnesota State is 32-6 this season and 10-2 in conference play. MSU is currently undefeated at home with a 6-0 record.

Jess Meidl leads the Mavericks at the plate leading the team in batting average (.450), RBI (36) and doubles (11). McKenzie Paap follows with a .419 average while seven Mavericks are batting over .300 this season.

Coley Ries is Minnesota State’s starter and in 127.1 innings, has compiled a 17-2 record with seven shutouts and one save. She leads the conference with 215 strikeouts this season and leads the NSIC with a 0.99 ERA. Libby Bemis has also seen significant action for MSU and is 15-4 with a 1.74 ERA.
