Beavers wrap-up non-conference season with Concordia-Moorhead Tournament

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University softball team concludes non-conference action this week by competing at the Concordia-Moorhead Tournament at the West St. Paul Dome in St. Paul, Minn., Mar. 21-22. The Beavers (8-10) face three NCAA Division III opponents in Finlandia University, Concordia College-Moorhead and Bethany Lutheran College.

Scouting the Lions
The Beavers begin the week by facing the Lions of Finlandia Wednesday at 10 a.m. The Lions are 14-10 to start the season and are currently holding a six-game win streak after going 6-0 at the NCU Dome Tournament in Plymouth, Minn. The Lions are led by Denia Brent who is batting .475 in 61 at-bats.

Scouting the Cobbers
Bemidji State will then face the Cobbers of Concordia College at noon, Wednesday and again Thursday, also at noon. The Cobbers enter the week 3-7 on the season and currently on a four-game losing streak and opened its season in Clermont, Fla., going 3-7 during the tournament. CC is led by Elizabeth Asp who is batting .367 and leads the team with nine RBI.

Scouting the Vikings
The Beavers’ final opponent of the tournament will be the Vikings of Bethany Lutheran with each team facing off at 10 a.m., Thursday. The Vikings are 3-9 to start the season and are on a four-game losing streak after going 2-6 in Tucson, Ariz. Kaylee Mork leads the team by batting .400 in 12 games, leading the team in hits (12) and tied for second in RBI (5).

Bemidji State Notes

  • The Beavers wrapped up play in Florida by going 7-5 at the Spring Break Tournament in Clermont, Fla.
  • BSU is currently 8-10 on the season and went on a season best four-game win streak in Clermont.
  • The Beavers are 15th in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference with a team batting average of .254 and 15th in runs scored (60).
  • Junior Jessica Burligame leads the team with a .433 batting average in 11 games.
  • Junior Makayla Pagel leads the team in hits (22) and home runs (2) and is second on the team in batting average (.373) and RBI (9)
  • Senior Alexandra Ripka leads the team with 10 RBI in 17 games played.
  • BSU is fourth in the NSIC with a team ERA of 2.66 and have tossed three shutouts this season.
  • Sophomore Olivia Tucker leads the team and is third in the NSIC with an ERA of 1.35 despite a 1-3 record.
  • Freshman Stephi Dullum leads the team in wins (3), appearances (9) and strikeouts (33) and has posted a 2.59 ERA for second on the team.
  • Sophomore Megan Pehrson has pitched great as of late and is 2-0 with a 2.93 ERA in 28.2 innings.
  • Also pitching more as of late is junior Rochelle Koshalek who has totaled 19.1 innings this season and is 2-2 with a 3.98 ERA.
