WEST ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Bemidji State University softball team dropped both of its games in its doubleheader with Minnesota State University, Mankato at the West St. Paul Dome Friday afternoon. The Beavers (13-17, 2-6 NSIC) fell in game one 8-0 in five innings and 5-0 in game two against the Mavericks (26-12, 7-7 NSIC).

Minnesota State 8, Bemidji State 0 (F/5)
The Beavers would struggle at the plate in first game of the day and could only muster one hit against Mackenzie Ward of the Mavericks. Ward shutout the Beavers to complete the one-hit gem and was supported with eight runs from MSU’s offense to decide the game after five innings.

Rachel Burlkand recorded the lone hit for the Beavers while Stephi Dullum pitched all five innings and allowed eight runs, five earned, off of 10 hits and struck out four.

Minnesota State sent out Mackenzie Ward to the circle for the back-to-back start and she held the Beavers scoreless once again. BSU was able to total four hits in the game but left five runners on base to come up empty on the scoreboard.

Jessica Burlingame, Kesley McAllister, Olivia Tucker and Sami Dullum each tallied a hit while sophomore Megan Pehrson pitched all seven innings for the Beavers. Pehrson gave up five runs, four earned, to the Mavericks and allowed nine hits while striking out one.

The Beavers will look to rebound next week when they host Minot State University and University of Minnesota, Crookston at Chet Anderson Stadium, April 17 and 19.
