BEMIDJI, Minn. – After days of rescheduling due to poor weather conditions, the Bemidji State University softball team hosts its first home series of the season Tuesday and Thursday at Chet Anderson Stadium. The Beavers (13-17, 2-6 NSIC) begin the week’s play by hosting Minot State University for a doubleheader Tuesday, April 17 beginning at 1 p.m. BSU then hosts University of Minnesota, Crookston Thursday, April 19 for a doubleheader slated to begin at 2 p.m.

Scouting Minot State
The Beavers of Minot State come to Bemidji with a 20-15 overall record and stand eighth in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference standings with a 7-7 league record.

The Beavers are lead at the plate by Tori Zimmermann who is batting .504 in 121 at bats and leads the team in hits (61), doubles (19), homeruns (7) and RBI (35). Minot State has six student-athletes batting over .300 on the season including Zimmermann.

MiSU’s pitching staff rotates Kylie Patrick and Laura Mendez in the circle and are led by Patrick who is 11-6 in 26 appearances and has an ERA of 4.75. Mendez follows with a 9-9 record in 28 appearances and has an ERA of 5.98.

Scouting Minnesota Crookston
The Golden Eagles enter the week 5-27 on the season and last in the NSIC standings with a 1-9 league record. UMC will travel to University of Mary April 18 before facing the Bemidji State the following day.

Minnesota Crookston is led at the plate by Maycee Trujillo who is batting .382 in 55 at bats while Mikaela Rodriguez leads the team with 17 RBI.

The Golden Eagles rotate Luisa Silvain, Paige Pitlick and Mikayla Jones in the circle with all three pitching atleast 48 innings so far this season. Silvain leads the team with a 3.21 ERA while Jones has posted a 3-4 record, leading the team in wins and innings pitched (51.0).

Bemidji State Notes

  • The Beavers currently stand 14th in league standings with a 2-6 record and have lost five straight games.
  • BSU plays its first home series of the season at Chet Anderson Stadium after having its previous games cancelled due to poor weather and field conditions.
  • Jessica Burlingame leads the Beavers by batting .384 in 73 at bats and has posted eight RBI, seven doubles, one triple and one homerun.
  • Makayla Pagel leads the team with six homeruns and 24 RBI and boasts a .367 batting average for second on the team.
  • Brooke Phillips (.358) and Kelsey McAllister (.309) both are hitting above .300 this season for four Beavers hitting above that mark.
  • Freshman Stephi Dullum leads the Beaver pitching staff with a 7-8 record in 17 appearances and also leads the team with a 2.73 ERA and 65 strikeouts.
  • Sophomore Megan Pehrson follows with a 3-2 record in 14 appearances and has posted a 3.56 ERA.
