BURNSVILLE, Minn. – The Bemidji State University softball team has been selected to finish 14th in the 2019 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference standings after the NSIC Preseason Softball Coaches’ Poll was announced Wednesday. The Beavers garnered 62 points in the poll while seniors Makayla Pagel and Rochelle Koshalek were tabbed as the Beavers’ Preseason Players to Watch.
Winona State University earned the most points in the poll after winning the NSIC Regular Season and NSIC Tournament titles last season while Augustana University finished second with 214 points. Minnesota State University, Mankato was third in the poll with 180 points while University of Minnesota Duluth was fourth with 179.
The preseason coaches’ poll is based off each coach ranking each team from 15 to 1 with the top team receiving 15 points, second 14, third 13, etc.

Winona State’s Lani Van Zyl was picked as the Preseason Player of the Year while Warriors pitcher Jordyn Kleman was selected as the Preseason Pitcher of the Year.
The Beavers are scheduled to begin the 2019 season Feb. 12-13 at the West St. Paul Dome and will begin conference play March 26 at University of Minnesota Crookston.
