Three to join Bemidji State Softball’s 2020 signing class

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University softball head coach Rick Supinski announced the addition of three more student-athletes to the BSU softball program for the 2020 season. Gabi Bingham (Jr., OF, 5-2, Ankeny, Iowa),  Kyla Damerow ( Fr., P, 5-8, Black Diamond, Wash.) and Morgan Sewell (Fr., C/Util, 5-4, Chowchilla, Calif.) will join Grace Bragg, Ashley Herold and Emmy Yeager as new members of BSU softball who have signed National Letters of Intent to attend Bemidji State in the fall of 2019.

All signees are contingent upon admission to BSU and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.

Gabi Bingham – 5-2 – Jr. – OF – Ankeny, Iowa (Iowa Central CC)
Iowa Central CC:
In one season with the Tritons, Bingham has appeared in 30 games with 42 at bats, nine hits, 17 runs scored, one double and three RBI… Helped guide the Tritons to a 33-28 season in 2017-18 and an appearance at the NJCAA Region XI tournament… Will play for the Tritons for the 2018-19 season before joining the Beavers.

Ankeny HS: Lettered for the Hawks varsity softball program four times as well as the track program four times and the dance program once… Helped guide the Hawks softball program to a state tournament appearance her sophomore season.

Personal: Born on May 25, 1999 and is the daughter of Dave and Kim Bingham… Plans to major in graphic design while attending Bemidji State… Gabbi enjoys painting, drawing and working out when not on the softball field… Sister Cathlin played softball at Iowa State.

Kyla Damerow – 5-8 – Fr. – P – Black Diamond, Wash. (Tahoma HS)
Tahoma HS:
Lettered for the Bears softball program three times… Helped the Bears reach back-to-back state tournament appearances in 2017 and 2018… A two-time second team all-league pitcher in 2017 and 2018… Awarded the WIAA 4A State Tournament Sportsmanship award in 2017… Selected as the Maple Valley Reporter Athlete of the Week.

Personal: Born on March 15, 2001 and is the daughter of Mark and Renee Damerow… Plans to major in Pre-Physical Therapy at Bemidji State… Enjoys snowboarding, paddle boarding and hiking when not on the softball field… Her Father Mark played four years of soccer at Linfield University and mother Renee played volleyball and softball at Pacific Lutheran University.

Morgan Sewell – 5-4 – Fr. – C/Util – Chowchilla, Calif. (Chowchilla Union HS)
Chowchilla Union HS:
Sewell was a four-year varsity player for the Tribe’s softball program… Voted the team’s defensive player of the year and a two-time utility player of the year… Helped the Tribe to a 20-9 overall record in 2018 and consecutive appearances to the Central Division Section semifinals… A scholar-athlete at Chowchilla Union HS.

Personal: Born on July 14, 2001 and is the daughter of Ralph and Kristen Sewell… Plans to major in Nursing while at Bemidji State… Active in FFA and enjoys being outdoors in her free time… Father played football at Reedley College.
