BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University softball team returns home this weekend to host Northern State University and Minnesota State University, Moorhead Friday, April 5 and Saturday, April 6 at Chet Anderson Stadium. The Beavers (20-12, 3-5 NSIC) look to end a four-game losing streak by hosting the Wolves (10-20, 2-6 NSIC) and Dragons (8-17, 2-6 NSIC) for a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheaders.
Scouting the Wolves
The Wolves enter the weekend’s action tied for 13th in the league standings and have lost its last two games after being swept by University of Mary Wednesday. NSU is led at the plate by Rachel Reinke who is batting .388 with 31 hits in 80 at bats and has totaled seven doubles, three home runs and 14 RBI. In the circle, Makenzie Merritt paces the team with a 4-1 record in 20 appearances and has posted a 4.30 ERA in 58.2 innings. Jamie Fisher leads the team with 70.0 innings pitched and has a 5.70 ERA.
Scouting the Dragons
The Dragons come into the weekend’s action tied for 13th in the league standings and currently on a four-game losing streak. MSUM last played Tuesday, April 2 and were swept on the road at Minot State University. At the plate, the Dragons are led by Emma Dummer who is hitting .317 with 26 hits in 82 at bats and has totaled nine doubles and four home runs to lead the team. In the circle, MSUM is led by Becky Berth who is 6-10 in 24 appearances and has compiled a 3.01 earned run average in 123.1 innings.
Scouting the Beavers
The Beavers begin the weekend tied for 10th in the NSIC standings but have lost four consecutive games after being swept by Southwest Minnesota State University and St. Cloud State University in their last action. Bemidji State is led on offense by senior Jessica Burlingame who is batting .380 and is second in the NSIC with 41 hits. She is followed by senior Brooke Phillips who is batting .351 and is tied for the league lead with 13 doubles this season. In the circle, sophomore Stephi Dullum leads the team with an 8-6 record in 18 appearances and has posted a 1.87 ERA in 82.1 innings for seventh in the conference. She is followed by senior Rochelle Koshalek who has posted a 2.86 ERA and is 3-3 in 49.0 innings.
