Softball travels to Florida for The Spring Games

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University softball team begins its spring break Sunday, Mar. 8 and will travel to central Florida to compete in The Spring Games. The Beavers (6-4) will spend six days in the sunshine and warm weather and will face 12 non-conference opponents during the trip. The trip will be the final non-conference games for the Beavers and will begin Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play Tuesday, March 24.

Bemidji State is led by sophomore Elaina Christiansen who is fourth in the NSIC with a .517 batting average in 29 at bats and also is second with a 1.103 slugging percentage. She has recorded five doubles, four home runs and nine RBI this season.

She is followed by senior Olivia Tucker and freshman Emmarie Yeager who are each batting .375 while Yeager paces the team with 10 RBI.

In the circle, Bemidji State is led by junior Stephi Dullum who has posted a 2-1 record and 2.33 earned run average in 21 innings this season and leads the team with 20 strikeouts. She is followed by freshman Kyla Damerow who has a 1-0 record to go along with a 4.08 ERA in 12 innings.

Sophomore Kaidron McClafferty has posted a 2-2 record with a 5.73 ERA in 14.2 innings while senior Olivia Tucker is 1-1 with a 7.00 ERA in 19 innings.

Nestled in Northern Minnesota’s wooded region and located on the shore of Lake Bemidji, Bemidji State University sponsors 15 varsity athletic programs with NCAA Division I men’s and women’s hockey membership in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, while its 13 NCAA Division II programs hold membership in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
