BSU Softball adds seven during early signing period

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University softball head coach Brittany Gomez-Olson announced the addition of seven student-athletes to the BSU softball program for the 2021-22 season. Aimee Christenson (IF, 5-9, Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS), Alexa Christenson (OF, 5-9, Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS), Savanna Disbrow (P, 5-11, Augusta, Mich./Gull Lake HS), Molly Houts (So., Utility, 5-4, Whittier, Calif./El Camino College), Johnna Seriano (C, 5-4, Clearwater, Fla./Countryside HS), Mariah Stevenson (IF, 5-5, Sherwood, Wis./Kimberly HS) and Adelyn Wilson (IF, 5-6, Coppell, Texas/Coppell HS) signed national letters of intent during the NCAA’s early signing period to join Bemidji State softball for the 2021 season.

All signees are contingent upon admission to BSU and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.

* Aimee Christenson – IF – 5-9 – L/R – Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS
Eastview HS: Aimee is a three-year letter-winner for the Eastview High School softball program and was voted to be a team captain by her peers for the upcoming 2020 season… In 2019, she batted .352 with six doubles and eight walks to help the Lightning to an 11-9 record and appearance in the Section Playoffs… In the summer of 2020, she was named the USSSA Summer Nationals Defensive MVP… At Eastview High School, Christenson is a Presidential Academic Award winner, three-time academic letter-winner and Top Scholar Magnum Cum Laude.

Personal: Daughter of Craig and Jackie Christenson… Born on June 5, 2003… Currently undecided on a major while attending Bemidji State… Twin sister of fellow BSU Softball signee Alexa Christenson.

* Alexa Christenson – OF – 5-9 – L/R – Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS
Eastview HS: Alexa is a three-year letter-winner for the Eastview High School softball program and was voted to be a team captain by her peers for the upcoming 2020 season… In 2019, she was voted the Lightning’s Rookie of the Year after averaging .311 with four doubles, one triple and led the team in hit by pitch and stolen bases… Helped the Lightning to an 11-9 record in 2019 and Section Runner-up finish… At Eastview High School, Christenson is a Presidential Academic Award winner and two-time academic letter-winner.

Personal: Daughter of Craig and Jackie Christenson… Born on June 5, 2003… Currently undecided on a major while attending Bemidji State… Twin sister of fellow BSU Softball signee Aimee Christenson.

* Savanna Disbrow – P – 5-11 – R/R – Augusta, Mich./Gull Lake HS
Gull Lake HS: Savanna is a four-year letter-winner for Gull Lake High School’s softball program as well as its volleyball program… In 2019, she had an ERA of 1.273 and in the fall season of 2020, she currently has an ERA of 1.482 with 26 strikeouts in 28 innings… Member of Gull Lake High School’s National Honor Society and member of the school’s Highest Honor Roll.

Personal: Daughter of Dean and Lori Disbrow… Born on Oct. 3, 2003… Plans to major in Exercise Science while attending Bemidji State.

* Molly Houts – So. - Utility – 5-4 – R/R - Whittier, Calif./El Camino College
Downey HS: Molly is a three-year letter-winner for Downey High School’s softball program and one-year letter-winner for its volleyball program… Helped the Vikings win the San Gabriel Valley League Championship in 2018… Captained the Viking team in 2020… Graduated with honors at Downey High School and was a Mary Stauffer Scholar Athlete.

Personal: Daughter of Tom and Sharon Houts… Born on February 15, 2002… Plans to major in Education while attending Bemidji State… Father, Tom, played football at Indiana University and brother, Jake, played football at Kent State University.

* Johnna Seriano – C – 5-4 – R/R – Clearwater, Fla./Countryside HS
Countryside HS: Johnna is a letter-winner for Countryside High School’s softball program… In 2019 she was named a Tampa Bay Times’ All-Conference Honorable Mention… Batted .351 in 11 games and had four doubles, one triple, one home run and seven RBI… Member of Countryside High School’s Honor Roll.

Personal: Daughter of Peter and Jessica Seriano… Born on August 21, 2003… Plans to major in Political Science while attending Bemidji State.

* Mariah Stevenson – IF – 5-5 – R/R – Sherwood, Wis./Kimberly HS
Kimberly HS: Mariah is a four-year letter-winner for Kimberly High School’s softball program… Helped the Papermakers to a 10-8 record in 2019… In 2017, she was selected to the All-FVA Conference Second Team and was an All-Area Honorable Mention… Stevenson is a member of Kimberly High School’s Honor Roll. 

Personal: Daughter of Jeff and Laura Stevenson… Born on December 26, 2002… Currently undecided on a major while attending Bemidji State.

* Adelyn Wilson – IF – 5-6 – R/R – Coppell, Texas/Coppell HS
Coppell HS: Adelyn is a letter-winner for Coppell High School’s softball program… She has also played for the Extra Innings NTX 18u club softball team… Wilson is a member of Coppell High School’s Honor Roll and earned an invitation into the National Honors Society.

Personal: Daughter of Landon and Cherilyn Wilson… Born on May 13, 2003… Plans to major in Art & Design while attending Bemidji State… Father, Landon, played hockey at University of North Dakota and played in the NHL/professionally for 15 years… Grandfather, Rick, played hockey at University of North Dakota and played in the NHL for 8 years and coached in the NHL for 31 years.
