ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Bemidji State University softball team fell in both games of its doubleheader at St. Cloud State University Tuesday afternoon to begin its 10-game Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference road trip. The Beavers (7-15, 3-5 NSIC) fell in game one to the Huskies (16-6, 5-3 NSIC) 13-0 in five innings and then 4-0 in game two.

Bemidji State was held to just one hit and three baserunners by Husky pitcher Lauren Kirchberg who improved to 5-3 on the season after pitching the one-hit, complete-game shutout for SCSU. The Huskies offense exploded for 13 runs off of 16 hits to run-rule the Beavers through five innings.

Senior Sami Dullum recorded the Beavers lone hit of the game while redshirt freshman Kyla Damerow earned the loss in the circle after pitching two innings and allowed five runs off of seven hits. Junior Kaidron McClafferty came in to pitch two innings in relief and allowed eight runs off of nine hits.

Bemidji State struggled at the plate in game two as well and recorded just one hit off of Husky pitcher Kylie Thomsen who had a no-hitter broken up in the sixth inning by senior Gabi Bingham. Thomsen earned her sixth win of the season after pitching the one-hitter through six innings and totaled 12 strikeouts.

Senior Stephi Dullum earned the loss in the circle for the Beavers after pitching six innings and allowed four runs off of 11 hits to fall to 5-2 this season.

Bemidji State will try to rebound this weekend by traveling to Northern State University and Minnesota State University, Moorhead for a pair of doubleheaders, Saturday and Sunday.
