Beavers fall to No. 6 Warriors, 3-0, on senior night

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University volleyball team fell to No. 6 Winona State University, 3-0 (16-25, 20-25, 20-25) Friday night in part of senior night. The Beavers (7-19, 3-14 NSIC) were led by seniors Jessica Yost and Amanda Tronick in the match who each tallied 11 kills.

With the loss the Beavers fall to 7-19 on the season while the Warriors improve to 23-3 (14-3 NSIC).

Yost led the team by attacking at a .290 efficiency while Tronick followed at .276. The Beavers hit .190 as a team while Winona State excelled on the attack and hit at a .320 efficiency. Freshman Shelby Haney assisted on 25 kills and Yost totaled nine digs to get closer to 1,000 career digs. The Bemidji native now has 976 career digs and needs just 24 for the milestone.

Bemidji State hopes to rebound against Upper Iowa University tomorrow for its last home match of the season. The Beavers host the Peacocks at 4 p.m. and will honor their parents in part of parent’s day.
