BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University volleyball team fell to St. Cloud State University, 3-0 (22-25, 14-25, 18-25), Tuesday night in non-conference volleyball action.
Sophomore Julie Touchett led the Beavers by tallying nine kills in the match while aslo attacking at a .316 efficiency while junior Sami Leach added six and junior Maddie Filipiak totaled five.
"We had two slow starts and really had to battle in sets one and two," said head coach Kevin Ulmer. "Just put ourselves in a really tough spot. We did challenge them in some areas and are middles did a nice job attacking tonight. Setters really distributed the ball in a way that we want but in order to start getting these wins we have to have a complete game from everyone."
The Beavers started hot in the game attacking at a .235 percentage in the matches first set, but hit just .049 and .122 in the second and third sets to finish the match at .129. Bemidji State couldn’t match the Huskies’ attack with the team hitting at a .314 clip led by Krista Kuglin who tallied 12 kills at hit .600.
Sophomore Emma Hallmann led the defense with 13 digs while Shelby Haney and Sami Leach coordinated the Beavers’ attack with 16 and 14 assists, respectively.
The Beavers remain at home this weekend and host Upper Iowa University and No. 9 Winona State University, Oct. 6-7.
