Beavers suffer 3-0 loss at No. 3 Concordia-St. Paul

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Bemidji State University fell to No. 3 Concordia-St. Paul University, 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-7) Friday night in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action.

The Beavers were paced by freshman Anna Averkamp who tallied eight kills on .223 hitting efficiency but were out-hit by the Golden Bears, 49 kills to 26.

“Kind of the same story for us, played good defense but didn’t get enough blocks tonight,” said head coach Kevin Ulmer. “Anna Averkamp had a career night in terms of just being a big hitter and totaled eight kills. We’re looking forward to the next match.”

Junior Sami Leach followed Averkamp with six kills and also had 11 assists while sophomore Shelby Haney also added 11 assists and paced the defense with nine digs.

The Beavers hit .126 as a team in the match but couldn’t slow the attack of the Golden Bears who hit .506.

BSU will look to break its 12-match losing streak tomorrow by traveling to Minnesota State University, Mankato at 2 p.m.
