BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University volleyball senior Julie Touchett recorded a match-high 10 kills but the Beavers (5-15, 2-10 NSIC) fell to Augustana University 3-0 (20-25, 23-25, 14-25) Friday night in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action.
Bemidji State hit just .098 in the match as a team and totaled 19 attack errors on 112 total attacks while earning 30 kills while the Vikings hit .245 as a team with 39 kills and 13 errors in 106 total attacks. The Beavers totaled eight aces in the match, third-most of the season but committed nine service errors to hand the Vikings easy points.
Touchett led the Beavers by hitting .364 in the match with 10 kills and two errors in 22 attacks and was followed by junior Becky Schroeder who recorded five kills but hit just -.059 in 34 attacks. Redshirt freshman Maddie Mackinac earned 24 assists as the team’s setter while picking up three kills as well and seven digs on defense.
Sophomore Haley Stolt led the team’s defense with 10 digs and also contributed five kills while Schroeder followed with eight and both senior Emma Hallmann and Mackinac followed with seven
Senior Kelli Auer led the team with three aces while Schroeder and Stolt each added two. Bemidji State totaled four team blocks and were led by Touchett and junior Randi Johnson who each recorded two.
Bemidji State will look to end its four-match losing streak by hosting No. 8 Wayne State College (Neb.) tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.
