BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University volleyball team fell in three sets (18-25, 21-25, 16-25) to No. 16 Winona State University Friday night in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action. The Beavers (7-18, 4-13) were led by junior Anna Averkamp and sophomore Haley Stolt who each recorded nine kills and hit .444 and .350, respectively.
Bemidji State hit .165 as a team while the Warrios (19-6, 11-6 NSIC) hit .314 and totaled 46 kills. The Beavers had no answer for Warriors middle blocker Megan Flom who recorded a match-high 16 kills and hit .500.
Junior Becky Schroeder followed Averkamp and Stolt with eight kills while junior Randi Johnson followed with four. Redshirt freshman Maddie Mackinac earned 27 assists coordinating the Beavers’ attack and also contributed six digs on defense.
Senior Emma Hallmann led the Beavers’ defense with 11 digs while senior Julie Touchett earned three blocks to pace the team.
Bemidji State concludes its home season tomorrow afternoon and will honor its four seniors before facing No. 22 Upper Iowa University in the final home match of the season. The Beavers and Peacocks are scheduled for a 1 p.m. start time.
