BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University volleyball head coach Kevin Ulmer announced the 2020 schedule for the BSU volleyball team, Friday afternoon. The Beavers open the program’s 51st season Sept. 4-5 by traveling to Billings, Mont., to take part in the in Montana State-Billings Tournament.
The Beavers will compete in two non-conference tournaments before beginning their Northern Sun Intercollegiate conference schedule, Sept. 18.
In Montana, the Beavers will face South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and Montana State University-Billings Friday, Sept. 4 before facing Black Hills State University and St. Martin’s University Saturday. The following weekend the Beavers travel to Marquette, Mich., to compete in the Wildcat Invite hosted by Northern Michigan University. Bemidji State opens the tournament against the host school Friday, Sept. 11 followed by facing Walsh University later in the day. BSU then faces Texas A&M International and Lake Superior State University Saturday.
Bemidji State opens conference play at home by hosting Southwest Minnesota State University Sept. 18 followed by University of Sioux Falls, Sept. 19. The Beavers open the conference season with three-consecutive home matches when they host St. Cloud State University Tuesday, Sept. 22. The Beavers close out September with their first NSIC road matches at Augustana University and Wayne State College, Sept. 25-26.
The Beavers being October by hosting Upper Iowa University and Winona State University Oct. 2-3 and travel to Concordia University-St. Paul and Minnesota State University, Mankato the following weekend. BSU returns home to host Northern State University and Minnesota State University, Moorhead Oct. 16-17 before three-consecutive road matches at University of Mary (Oct. 23), Minot State University (Oct. 24) and Minnesota State University, Crookston (Oct. 29). The Beavers play host to University of Minnesota Duluth on Halloween to close out the month of October.
The Beavers will play five matches in November beginning with a road match to St. Cloud State Tuesday, Nov. 3. BSU hosts its lone matches of the month Nov. 6-7 when they host Wayne State and Augustana. The Beavers then travel to Sioux Falls and Southwest Minnesota State for the final matches of the season, Nov. 13-14.
Postseason play will begin Nov. 20-22 at the NSIC Volleyball Tournament held at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The Bemidji State volleyball program returns 10 letter-winners from the 2019 season where the Beavers went 7-21 and tied for the most wins under Kevin Ulmer. The Beavers will also welcome seven newcomers to the team, all of which are freshmen.
