Averkamp totals nine kills as BSU Volleyball falls to No. 11 Winona State

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University volleyball senior Anna Averkamp paced the BSU volleyball team after totaling nine kills while also leading the team with a .172 hitting percentage but the Beavers fell to No. 11 Winona State University, 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-15). With the loss, the Beavers fall to 0-15 (0-7 NSIC) while the Warriors improve to 14-1 (6-1 NSIC).

Bemidji State totaled 24 kills in the match and hit .056 as a team while Winona State over-powered the Beavers and totaled 50 kills and hit .351. Megan Flom paced WSU with 13 kills and hit at a match-high .545 clip while Madison Rizner followed with eight kills and hit .400. Following Averkamp was junior Meeghen Dahlager, sophomore Rilee Michaelson and freshman Lauren Sitter who each totaled three kills.

Freshman Emily Wade totaled 19 assists setting the ball for the Beavers with also recording one kill and three digs defensively. Sophomore Lauren Justesen paced the Beavers defense with 14 digs while sophomore Madison Weyker followed with eight. At the net, BSU was led by Sitter who totaled three blocks (1s-2a) while junior Rylee Pompa (1s-1a) and Michaelson (0s-2a) each added two. 

Bemidji State hits the road for its next action and will travel to Concordia University-St. Paul and Minnesota State University, Mankato, Oct. 8-9.
