BEMIDJI, Minn. – The weekly radio show, “Sports in the Round,” which broadcasts on Wednesday evenings from 6-8 p.m. at The Ground Round, will this week feature Bemidji State University women's basketball. BSU head women's basketball coach Mike Curfman will be on the show to discuss the 2010-11 squad as it gears up for the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opner Dec. 3-4.
The Beavers are 2-1 entering conference play this weekend at the BSU Gymnasium. BSU welcomes Minnesota State University Moorhead Friday at 6 p.m. and University of Minnesota, Crookston Saturday at 4 p.m. The Beavers are led by freshmen Ellie Wessling (G/F. Winsted, Minn.) and Melissa Borstner (G, East Bethel, Minn.). Wessling comes in averaging 14.0 points and 9.0 rebounds. She recorded her first career double-double against No. 19 California (Pa.) with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Borstner comes in averaging 13.7 points.
BSU's men's hockey weekend opponent is No. 4 University of Nebraska-Omaha, so UNO's head coach Dean Blais will be on the program.
Interviews from this week’s Beaver Pride Athletes of the Week, Annie Bauerfeld (Women's Hockey, Sr., F, Woodbury, Minn.) and Patrick Cassidy (Men's Basketball, Sr., F, 6-6, St. Paul, Minn.) will also air.
