The Weekend

The Bemidji State University women’s basketball team (2-0; 0-0 NSIC) heads to the Sunshine State for its first road games of the season as it participates in the Nova Southeastern Thanksgiving Classic Nov. 25-26. The Beavers will play host Nova Southeastern Nov. 25 at 3 p.m. and Palm Beach Atlantic Nov. 26 at 1 p.m. Both times listed are central.        

The Beavers
The Beavers posted a 100-51 victory Nov. 19 against Mayville State at the BSU Gymnasium to go 2-0 to start the season. Sophomore Kate Warmack posted a career-high 26 points and added 10 rebounds to record her first-career double-double. BSU shot 46.7 percent from the field in the game, while holding the Comets to a dismal 23.2 percent.
All 13 Beavers played for the second consecutive game and all but two scored. Sophomore Morgan Lee also established a career-high in points with 22 and Senior Samantha Baldwin posted a career-high 19 points, while adding five rebounds, f our assists and four steals. The last time BSU scored more than 100 points was Nov. 20, 2009 vs Martin Luther (108-63). BSU has recorded more than 100 points in a game 14 times in its history.

The Sharks

The Sharks (3-1) are coming off a 53-point victory against Puerto Rico-Mayaguez Monday. Five Sharks reached doubles figures in points. NSU hosted Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference-foe Concordia University, St. Paul Nov. 19 and used a 15-1 advantage in overtime to own a 76-62 victory.  Four Sharks are currently averaging at least 10 points per game. Danielle Robinson paces NSU with 15 points per game. The Sharks have played all four games at home this season and are one a three-game winning streak after a 53-48 season opening loss to Valdosta State.

The Sailfish

The Sailfish are 2-2 after a 59-56 victory against Division I Bethune-Cookman University. Jordan Kong led all PBA players with 16 points off the bench in the game as the Sailfish shot found a way to win despite shooting 31.5 percent from the field. The squad is led by Kong’s 12.3 points per game. Selethia Jackson is averaging 10.3 points and 11.3 rebounds per game.
