BEMIDJI, Minn. -- The upperclassmen trio of Allison Cordes, Aimee Pelzer and Sierra Senske were named the 2016-17 Bemidji State University women’s basketball team captains, Head Coach Chelsea DeVille announced Wednesday.

Cordes, a senior guard from Roseville, Minn., started 10 games while playing in all 27 last season. She finished her junior season with 4.1 points per game on 32.5 percent shooting from the field and 34.6 percent shooting from 3-point range. Cordes totaled 65 assists and set single-season career highs with 57 rebounds and 23 steals.

Pelzer, a senior guard from Upsala, Minn., led the team in six categories while starting all 27 games in 2015-16. She paced the Beavers in points per game (13.1), minutes per game (34.4), 3-point field goal percentage (.399), assists (93), steals (46) and blocks (20). Pelzer finished one rebound (154) shy of the team high while also finishing second in field goal percentage (.401) and free throw percentage (.769). She recorded two double-doubles and earned NSIC Player of the Week one time.

Senske, a junior center from Glyndon, Minn., started all 27 games and totaled two double-doubles last season. She led BSU in rebounds (155), field goal percentage (.459) and free throws made (90) and attempted (133). Senske ranked third in points per game with 12.5. She was selected to the All-NSIC team and named NSIC Freshman of the Year following the 2014-15 season.

All three Beavers earned a spot on the 2015-16 Winter NSIC All-Academic Team.

Bemidji State opens the 2016-17 season Thursday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. with an exhibition against North Dakota State University in Fargo, N.D. BSU opens the regular season Saturday, Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. against Mayville State University.
