Arrington selected NSIC Player of the Week after opening weekend

BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- True freshman center Sydney Arrington earned her first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference North Division Player of the Week honor after her collegiate debut for Bemidji State University women’s basketball. The Sioux Falls, S.D., native led the BSU women’s basketball program in scoring during the team’s season-opening win versus Mayville State University.

Arrington finished the 81-55 win with 29 points to lead all scorers in the game. She scored 25 of 29 points in the second half against the Comets. She finished the night shooting 13-of-17 from the field and pulled down six rebounds. Three of her rebounds came down on the offensive side of the court, two of which she converted into put-back scores.

Senior guard Tara Roelofs of Winona State University was selected as the NSIC South Division Player of the Week. She averaged 14 points in three games over the weekend. She added five assists and five steals over the three-game stretch.

Arrington and the Beavers travel to St. Cloud, Minn., to take part in the Huskies Classic Nov. 18-19. Bemidji State will first play Northland College on Friday before taking on Fort Hays State University on Saturday at Halenbeck Hall.
