2021-22 Beaver Women’s Basketball signing class totals three

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Bemidji State University women’s basketball head coach Chelsea DeVille announced the additions of guard Erin Barrette, forward Ella Giorgi, and guard Talia Pellegrini. The trio of incoming freshmen will join the Beavers beginning with the 2021-22 season.

All student-athletes’ acceptances are contingent upon admission to BSU and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.

Erin Barrette, a 5-foot-7-inch point guard from Menominee, Mich., is a letter winner basketball at Menominee High School under head coach Lucas Chouinard. She is a three-time All-Great Northern Conference selection, including a first-team selection as a junior and an all-defensive team selection as a freshman. Barrette was also selected to the All-Upper Peninsula Divisions 1-3 Second Team as a junior.

Barrette was born March 14, 2003, and is the daughter of Tom and Jodi Barrette. She plans to major in nursing or pre-pharmacy and was a member of the National Honors Society at MHS.

Ella Giorgi, a 6-2 forward from Coon Rapids, Minn., is a two-time letter winner in basketball under head coach Tom Weko. She was selected as a team captain for the Cardinals. In addition to basketball, Giorgi was a three-time letter winner and team captain in tennis while being selected to the All-Northwest Suburban Conference Honorable Mention team as a junior and senior.

Giorgi was born Dec. 18, 2002, and is the daughter of Todd and Kristin Giorgi. She plans to major in exercise science and was a member of the High Honor Roll during her freshman, sophomore, and junior years at CRHS. Giorgi also earned Academic All-State honors in tennis during her senior year. Her cousin, Mia Giorgi, played soccer at St. Cloud State University from 2015-19.

Talia Pellegrini, a 5-9 combo guard from St. Charles, Ill., is a two-sport letter winner in basketball and soccer at St. Charles North High School. She was a two-time academic all-conference selection in both basketball and soccer for the North Stars. Under girls head basketball coach Mike Tomczak, Pellegrini was a four-year varsity letter winner and earned a Kane County Player of the Week honor. As a member of the Illinois Rockets, she was a United States Junior Nationals (USJN) Midwest Qualifier Pool All-Star and a USJN Windy in Indy Pool All-Star. In addition to being a letter winner in basketball, Pellegrini was also a three-year letter winner and a two-time academic all-conference selection in soccer.

Pellegrini was born June 7, 2003, and is the daughter of Mike and Carla Pellegrini. She plans to major in education with a minor in psychology. Pellegrini’s grandfather, Gary McKown, ran cross country at Marquette University while her cousin, Brian Dennison, played baseball at the University of Arkansas.
