Final tune up for the Beavers before NSIC Championship

BEMIDJI, Minn.- The Bemidji State University cross country team will be traveling to North Dakota once again this year to participate in the Jimmie Invitational in Jamestown. The 5,000 meter race will be run at the Hillcrest Golf Course at 4:00 p.m.

Last year the Beavers placed fourth as a team and the leading runner for BSU was Kirsten Maras who finished tenth. Senior Tina Larson (Sr., Morris, Minn.) finished 14th and was followed by Taylor Sautbine (Jr., Tamarack, Minn.) who finished 19th and Kasey Lasch (So., Wahpeton, N.D.) who finished 31st. Concordia College took the overall team win followed by Minot State. Aleona Reyes of Jamestown College took the individual win closely followed by her teammate Madey McLaughlin.

The last event BSU ran in  was the Roy Griak in St. Paul, Minn. Larson finished in the top half of a field made up of 413 runners with a time of 25:54.2 and Bemidji State finished 34th as a team. Sautbine followed Larson with a time of 25:56, Michelle Ohman (Sr., Prior Lake, Minn.) ran a 26:11.0, followed by Emily Turner (Fr., Bringham Lake, Minn.) who ran a time of 26:46.5, and then there was Bemidji, Minn. native, freshman Mikayla Connell who ran a 26:56.5. The University of Colorado, Colorado Springs took the team first place while University of Mary’s Melissa Agnew took the individual first with a time of 24:40.3.

The Jimmie Invitational is the last race before the Beavers start to prepare for the Northern Sun Inter Collegiate Championship in Joplin, Mo. Saturday, November 3.
