Cross Country finishes sixth at Bob Waxlax Invitational

SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. (Wapicada Golf Course) -- The Bemidji State University cross country team finished sixth Friday afternoon at the Bob Waxlax Invitational held at the Wapicada Golf Course in Sauk Rapids, Minn. Three Beavers set personal record times as BSU finished with 173 total points in the 6,000-meter run.

Freshman Ryne Prigge led the Beavers for the fourth straight meet while finishing 20th at the Bob Waxlax Invitational with a time of 24:09.0. The time broke her previous 6K mark set at the Roy Griak Invitational Sept. 29. Freshman Allyna Storms and sophomore Kristen Petron came in behind Prigge with times of 25:34.7 and 26:25.0, respectively. Both Storms and Petron also set personal record marks in the 6K event.

University of Minnesota Duluth came away with the team win with four of the top 10 finishers. Minnesota State University, Mankato followed in second with Winona State University taking third.

Bemidji State will travel to compete in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships Saturday, Nov. 3 in Abderdeen, S.D.

Nestled in Northern Minnesota’s wooded region and located on the shore of Lake Bemidji, Bemidji State University sponsors 15 varsity athletic programs with NCAA Division I men’s and women’s hockey membership in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, while its 13 NCAA Division II programs hold membership in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
