Bemidji State in seventh after 18 holes of the Maverick Invitational
LAKE CITY, Minn.  (The Jewel Golf Course) -- The Bemidji State University women’s golf team posted a 375 Saturday and holds down seventh place after the first round of the 36-hole 2010 Maverick Invitational at The Jewel Golf Course in Lake City, Minn.

The Beavers, who are 51 strokes off the lead shared by Minnesota State University and Upper Iowa University, head into Sunday’s final round led by junior Gretchen Trosen.  The Larimore, N.D. native carded a first-day total of 88 to sit 16 shots over par in 24th place individually.  

Upper Iowa’s McKenzie Holthaus fired a 74 (+2) to own low-round honors edging Emily Kvidera of Augustana College by two strokes  (74, +4).

Bemidji State and the rest of the Maverick Open field will be back at the par-72, 6,135-yard Jewel Golf Course tomorrow to wrap up the event with the final 18 holes.
