Beavers finish 10th at Mustang Invitational

MARSHALL, Minn. (Marshall Golf Club) -- The Bemidji State women’s golf team hit the Marshall Country Club, in Marshall, Minn. today for a weather-shortened Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) Mustang Classic.  The Beavers placed 10th in the one-day, 36-hole event.

All 36 holes were played today at the Marshall Golf Club after heavy rains earlier in the week forced the originally scheduled two-day tournament to be played on one day.

Bemidji State carded rounds of 358 and 357 to finish in 10th with 715 (+139), 98 shots off the lead. Augustana College shot 312 and 305 for a 36-hole score of 617 (+41) to top Hawaii-Hilo (315-311--626, +50) by nine strokes to win the team title.

Bemidji State’s top golfer Lindsay Morgan (So., Crookston, Minn.) turned in rounds of 92 and 86 for a 178 (+34) to tie for 54th overall.  Freshman Kathryn Stoffels (Maple Grove, Minn.) was next for the Beavers with rounds of 91 and 88 for a 179 to finish tied for 56th.  Marissa Mackedanz (Sr., Paynesville, Minn.) tied for 59th place with 86-95--181 (+37), while Maria Sloan (Fr., Coleraine, Minn.) and Rachel Wold (Fr., Crookston, Minn.) rounded out the BSU squad in 67th and 70th place, respectively.

The Beavers return to action Oct. 3-4 when they travel to the St. Cloud Country Club in St. Cloud, Minn. to participate in the SCSU Husky Classic.
