Morgan leads Bemidji State women to third place at SCSU Husky Classic
ST. CLOUD, Minn. (St. Cloud Country Club) -- Lindsay Morgan (So., Crookston, Minn.) carded a 93-83--176 (+30) to lead the Bemidji State University women’s golf team to a third place finish at the 2010-11 St. Cloud State University Husky Classic.  

The Beavers turned in a team total of 354 (+62) Monday to finish the 36-hole event with 370-354--724 (+140), 32 shots off the pace set by the University of Manitoba (344-348--692, +108) and just 19 stokes behind second place St. Cloud State (363-340--703, +119) at the par-73 5,854-yard St. Cloud Country Club in St. Cloud, Minn.

Morgan’s 176 situated the sophomore in eighth place individually for her first top 10 finish of the 2010 fall campaign.  She completed the event 13 shots behind Augustana College’s Jennifer Benoy who garnered medalist honors after firing a two-day total of 80-83--163 (+17) for a one-shot win over teammate Ashley Hendricks (82-82--164, +18).

In addition to Morgan,  BSU’s Marissa Mackedanz (Sr., Paynesville, Minn.) finished tied for 11th (89-91--180, +34), Rachel Wold (Fr., Crookston, Minn.) posted a 95-87--182 (+36) to land in a tie for 16th place, while Kathryn Stoffels (Fr., Maple Grove, Minn.), Maria Sloan (Fr., Coleraine, Minn.) and Ashley Van Meeteren (Fr., Big Lake, Minn.) rounded out the classic in 20th, 24th and 28th, respectively.

The Bemidji State women’s golf team wraps up the fall portion of its 2010-11 schedule next weekend as it travels to Hillcrest Golf Club in St. Paul, Minn. for the first 36 holes of the 2010-11 NSIC Championship.  The final three rounds of the unique 90-hole event is set for April 15-17 at the Brandon Golf Club in Brandon, S.D.
