Bemidji State women finish Augie Spring Invite in 11th
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Elmwood Golf Course) -- Rachel Wold (Fr., Crookston, Minn.) and Kathryn Stoffels (So., Maple Grove, Minn.) turned in matching scores of 176 (+32) Sunday to tie four others for 46th place as the Bemidji State University women’s golf team wrapped up competition at the Augustana Spring Invitational. The Beavers recorded their best round of the spring campaign, in the final round of the 36-hole event to move up to 11th place at Elmwood Golf Course in Sioux Falls, S.D.

BSU jumped over the University of Nebraska-Kearney (726/+150), Chadron State University (725/+149) and Wayne State College (722/+146) on day two, shaving 10 strokes off its opening round score to finish the invitational in 11th place.  The Beavers edged Wayne State by six strokes for 11th, while it wound up 16 strokes behind University of Sioux Falls for 10th in the final team standings.

BSU’s 36-hole total of 363-353--716 (+140) in the tournament, left the team 84 strokes off the pace set by Augustana College, which turned in a 309-323--632 (+56) to sit atop the leader board.  The hosting Vikings finished the event with a 15-stroke lead over Minnesota State University, Makato (318-329--647/+71), which bypassed Gustavus Adolphus College (317-333--650/+74) on the final day of competition, and the rest of the 14-team field for low team honors.

Dakota Wesleyan University’s Danielle Bellet led from start to finish following a day one low score of 72 (E) with a five-over-par 77 Sunday for a two-round total of 149 (+5) to finish with a five-shot advantage over Upper Iowa University’s Jill Preeshl (76-78--154/+10) for individual medallist honors.
In addition to Wold and Stoffels, BSU had four other individuals competing in the event.  Senior Marissa Mackedanz (Paynesville, Minn.) and Lindsay Morgan (So., Crookston, Minn.) posted matching scores of 91-91--182 (+38) to finish tied for 60th, while Maria Sloan (Fr., Coleraine, Minn.) rounded out the team’s performance locked in a tie for 76th place at +51 (99-96--195).

BSU’s Ashley Van Meeteren (Fr., Big Lake, Minn.) carded a two-day total of 99-105--204 (+60) to finish 81st as she participated in the invitational as an individual.

Bemidji State is back in action April 16-17 when it travels to Lake City, Minn. to compete in the Minnesota State Invitational.  The 36-hole event is set for The Jewel Golf Course.
