Kristofferson leads Bemidji State in first half of NSIC Championship
LAKE CITY, Minn. (The Jewel) -- Bemidji State University women’s golf team wrapped up the second round of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Sunday, sitting 10th in the 13-team field.  BSU newcomer Rachel Kristofferson (Fr., Park Rapids, Minn.) leads the Beavers in 34th place individually after 36 holes.

The unique league 72-hole event is played as two 36-hole events.  One took place at the par 72, 5,903-yard Jewel Golf Course in Lake City, Minn. this weekend and the final 36 holes is set for Dakota Ridge Golf Course in Morton, Minn. April 21-22, 2012.

Augustana College completed round two with a 40-stroke lead over the rest of the field posting rounds of 305-308--613 (+37). Minnesota State University, Mankato holds down second place with 330-323--653 (+77).

Augie’s Maggie Leland (77-71--148) and Allie Ostrander (72-76--148) share the top spot on the leader board after 36 holes after firing matching four-over-par scores of 148.

BSU’s Kristofferson is 30 shots off the lead in 34th place with 88-90--178 (+34).  Maria Sloan (89-96--185) is in 42nd overall at +41 and Kathryn Stoffels (Jr., Maple Grove, Minn.) is tied for 43rd with teammate Rachel Wold (So., Crookston, Minn.) at +42.  Kailey Cox (Jr., Lethbridge, Alberta) turned in a +67 to round out BSU’s team score tied for 58th individually.

The NSIC championship brings the fall portion of the Beavers’ season to an end.  The team now goes into a hibernation for the winter before returning to the links for the spring season.
