Bemidji State places second at Wayne State Spring Invite
WAYNE, Neb. (Wayne Country Club) -- The Bemidji State University women’s golf team opened its 2012 spring campaign with a second place finish in the Wayne State Spring Invitational in Wayne, Neb.

Maria Sloan (So., Coleraine, Minn.) and Rachel Wold (So., Crookston, Minn.), who tied for 12th place individually posting matching scores of 181 (+37) on the par-72, 5,810-yard Wayne Country Club, led the Beavers. BSU carded team scores of 375 and 362 to finish with a 737 (+161), 69 shots off the pace set by Concordia University, St. Paul, which posted a two-day total of 688 (+92) to claim the team title.

Bemidji State women’s golf returns to action April 21-22 when it travels to Morton, Minn. and Dakota Ridge Golf Course for the final two rounds of the 2011-12 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Championship.

The unique league 72-hole event is played as two 36-hole events.  After playing the first two rounds of the championship Oct. 8-9 at the par 72, 5,903-yard Jewel Golf Course in Lake City, Minn., the Beavers sit 10th overall led by BSU newcomer Rachel Kristofferson (Fr., Park Rapids, Minn.) who is 34th individually with 178 (+34).
