LAKE ELMO, Minn. (Tartan Park GC) -- Sophomore Rachel Wold (Crookston, Minn.) carded a five-over-par 77 Sunday to seat the Bemidji State University women's golf team in seventh place after the opening round of the Concordia University Invitational. The event is being played at the par-72, 5,934-yard Tartan Park Golf Course in Lake Elmo, Minn.
Individually, R. Wold sits just three strokes off the lead, tied with three other competitors for seventh place, with 18 holes to play.
The BSU contingent recorded a total of 330 (+42) on day one. Led by R. Wold, other players carding scores for the team were: Monica Wold (Fr., Crookston, Minn.) who posted an 82 (+10) to tie for 29th and Olivia Knutson (Fr., Hatton, N.D.) who sits tied for 42nd at 85 (+13), while Kelly Blair (Fr., International Falls, Minn.) rounded out the score tied for 47th at 86 (+14).
Owning two of the top three spots on the leader board, Augustana College, which fired a 17-over-par 305 Sunday, takes an 11-stroke lead into the final day of competition.
Augustana's Emily Kvidera holds a one-shot edge over teammate Allie Ostrander (75 (+3)) after carding an opening round-low, two-over-par 74.
The final round of the 36-hole Concordia University Invitational will take place tomorrow at Tartan Park Golf Course. A shotgun start is set for 9 a.m.
