BSU women ninth after 36 holes of NSIC Championship

BRAINERD, Minn. (The Classic at Madden's) -- The Bemidji State University women's golf team carded a 386 (+98) in the second round of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Championship Sunday at The Classic at Madden's. The Beavers sit ninth heading into the 36-hole spring portion of the event.

The Beavers are 111 shots off the pace set by Augustana College, which has recorded rounds of 326 and 320 (+70) to take a 50-stroke lead over the rest of the field.  Minnesota State University Mankato owns second place (365-331--696 (+120).

Bemidji State is lead by Rachel Wold (Jr., Crookston, Minn.).  The junior is tied with four other players after 36 holes with 178 (86-92/+34).

Augustana's Allie Ostrander fired an 80 (+8) on day two and clings to a seven-shot lead for medalist honors. She is 11 over par (75-80--155) at the championship's mid point.

The 2012-13 NSIC Championship is comprised of two 36-hold events. The fall portion of the league championship consists of two rounds of play at The Classic at Madden's in Brainerd, Minn.  The second half of the event will take place April 20-21 at Dachota Ridge in Morton, Minn.
