BSU women's golf adds another commitment for 2013-14

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Bemidji State University women’s golf coach Mark Bagaason has announced the addition of Victoria Drake (Maplewood, Minn.) to the BSU golf program for the 2013-14 season. Drake’s commitment to BSU and the women’s golf program came during the NCAA’s regular signing period beginning April 17.

Drake, along with Mary Elmquist (Elk River, Minn.) and Briana Jenniges (Wabasso, Minn.), who each signed National Letters of Intent earlier in the signing period, will comprise Bagaason’s 2013-14 freshman class.

Drake is a five-time letterwinner at North High School in St. Paul, Minn., where she competes on the Polars’ girls golf team. A member of the varsity golf team since ninth grade, Drake is currently in the midst of her senior season. Last spring, she earned All-Classic Suburban Honorable Mention honors in addition to being voted as her team’s Most Valuable Player. In addition to her time on the course, she also played two seasons of ice hockey for the Polars. Also a talent in the classroom, she was a member of the National Honor Society in 2011-12 and 2012-13, and was voted as an officer as a senior. She is also a regular on the honor roll and was an academic letterwinner at the conclusion of each of the last three school years.

All signees are contingent upon admission to BSU and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.

Under the direction of Mark Bagaason, the BSU women’s golf team completed the 2012-13 season finishing ninth at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Championships. The Beavers, who won the BSU invitational and took second in the Huskies Triangular, feature a roster comprised of two juniors, a sophomore and five freshmen. Last season, Monica Wold (Fr., Crookston, Minn.) led the team with a scoring average of 84.9.
