DETROIT LAKES, Minn. (Wildflower GC) -- Sophomore Olivia Knutson (Hatton, N.D.) led the Bemidji State University women's golf team to a ninth-place finish Friday at the Cobber Open in Detroit Lake, Minn. Knutson tied for 22nd individually with a nine-over-par 81.
As a team, the Beavers posted a 332 (+44) to finish 40 strokes off the pace set by NCAA Division I competitor North Dakota State University (292/+4), but was just nine strokes out of fifth place.
Knutson's 81 left her 10 shots out of medalist contention and eight strokes behind her sister, Abby, who captured second place with a 73 (+1), while competing for NDSU.
Bemidji State will be back in action Sept. 14-16, when it travel to Lake Elmo, Minn. and Tartan Park Golf Club to participate in the Concordia University, St. Paul Holiday Inn Invitational.
